…my calendar, that is. i’ve crammed too much in recently, and i’m not out of the woods yet. amongst my mess of thoughts, duties and passions are:
*Sarnia Short Film Festival: It was a hit. We had lots of fun, made a bunch of new friends and took in some very creative work. We’re going to do it again next year, and probably do a reprise of this year’s showings at ArtWalk. You can read all about it here and here.
*Documentary: There’s a new entry up here, and we’re on the road next week. Keep us in your prayers.
*Quitter: Sometimes [read: everyday] I feel like getting a normal, safe job again and kicking this church plant bit to the curb. But after awhile I come to my senses and remember why we’re doing this in the first place. Thanks to Doug, Sarah, Nathan, Rachel, David, Shawn & Marry-Anne for reminding me today.
*Return the Landscape: Today I started a new documentary project. More details soon.
*Grand Tours: Nathan and I are starting a new business to help fund our church planting habit. More details soon.
*The Shade of Poison Trees: Last week, 15 year old girls around the world and me clamoured to get our copy of Dashboard Confessional’s newest release. 7.5/10 on the Joe scale. A solid effort, but nothing terribly exciting.
*The Alchemy Index: The newest discs from Thrice. Some pretty good video clips of their progress in the studio can be found here.
*Thinkerlabs.ca: Our little site has been wrongfully neglected over the last few months…though this week we posted 2 new, free, original videos. Check ‘em out: Psalm 23 and What Does it Mean to be Human? Also, a site revamp is in the works: We’re going to focus on what we do well and drop the rest - thinkerlabs.ca: Film//Imagery//Liturgies. It’ll all be re-organized by the end of 2007.
*Sarnia Sting: I’m taking my son to his first ever hockey game on Saturday. Thanks Nate for the tickets.
*Speaks: I’ve got 3 lined up for this fall…Waterloo, London & Hamilton…and all for friends. Should be fun.
*HPPC: Whilst in Toronto this week, I visited the church (building) of my youth. They’ve transformed the turn of the century cathedral into pricey loft apartments….it was surreal. I’m still kind of weirded out by it.
*Bruggemann: This book is currently kicking my rump and inspiring me at the same time.
later…

*Making Sense of Genesis: Regent Professor Rick Watts knocks it out of the park with this one. Who knew a professing Pentecostal could be so intelligent?
*Proost: The alternative worship types in the UK have banded together and packaged their original resources for sale. I personally would’ve given them away for free, but I suppose they have their reasons.
*Rob Bell: If you didn’t have the opportunity to catch the Everything is Spiritual tour, your second chance is almost here. Further, his The God’s Aren’t Angry tour has a list of dates up here. I’m going in December 2. You in?
*Pedro The Lion/David Bazan: Free music downloads here, and a nifty little article here.
*Holy Sunrise: I like where we’re headed on this.

…I’m enjoying the new Foo Fighters album, Echoes, Silence, Patience, Grace as well as The Best of Buddy Holly.
…I’m thinking about Sunday, with this quote in particular in mind: “…obedience is known to be the mode of the world willed by God. But this is not obedience which is required or demanded. It is a grateful obedience embodied as doxology. [Genesis] asks if this world of mixed response can become a creation of doxology.” (Walter Bruggemann)
…I’m working on a ‘to-do’ list for the Sarnia Short Film Festival that we’re putting together. 23 films in all have been submitted. Some are great! Some…not so much.
…I’m hopeful of what could come of the announcement I made over at the documentary site earlier today.
…I’m waiting for my new crackberry to come in the mail. My old one gave up the ghost last week and Rogers is sending me a free(!) replacement. This is how the convo went with the second of 2 customer service reps I spoke with:
“Bourjour”
“Hello”
“Comment ca va?”
“Fine”
“uh….Do you speak Francais?”
“Well, yes, but probably not well enough to carry on this conversation”
“…uh…..I’ll will just send you a new phone.”

Ethan: Where does Jesus live?
Dad: Well, in Heaven, but also in you. That means He’s always with you.
Ethan: So…Jesus is following me?
