Moved In Short Film

This month at theStory we begin our series on the gospel of John, and thus, we’ve put together vid to help frame our wanderings for the next 4 weeks.

Check it out here.

Thankyous:

Barry from Driving on City Sidewalks for the groove.

Talia (Barry’s daughter) for the voice over. Excellent Work!

Ethan (my son) for the run.

Do me a favour:

Let me know what you think of the short and what thoughts (if any) you draw from it by posting a comment.

[EDIT: It’s been interesting to hear feedback via email. It’s always amusing to see what other draw from your work - and whether their reflections match mine. A few other personal thoughts…the idea of using the image of a kid to symbolize Jesus and a child’s voice to tell the story is a powerful one I think. Imagine, Jesus bouncing around as a 4 year old boy…unreal. Also, the use of straight up scripture in the narration was a first for us. On the production side, it would’ve been much easier to make this film with Final Cut as opposed to iMovie. I’m not complaining, and iMovie is a fantastic free program and there are reasons why I choose to use it, but I’d like to test my hand at Final Cut at some point. Also, notice the shot that goes from the boy running to the steeple…the boy exhales, you can see his breath, then look closely at the bottom of the steeple…a cloudy puff. I wish I could say that the connection of shots was planned, but it was a fluke. Thanks to the parking garage exhaust vent for the help. Finally, for those who are interested, there was no story board for this film. In our heads it went through various stages, and we even went on location for some test shots a couple of weeks prior to the filming to get ourselves acquainted. Sometimes this is just the way things work out. Idea, press record, edit, publish.]
