This Summer

The next three months are pretty full – but in a good way.

Documentary
I hit the road this week to start filming stories in Alberta and BC. I’ll be video blogging along the way over at www.thinkerlabs.ca/documentary

Talk Much?
I’ve got a handful of speaking dates that should be fun (Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, the Muskokas) and 4 weddings to officiate.

Around the House
We have some friends coming to stay with us including Andrea and Patrick who are returning to Canada after 3 years in Europe.

Along with my 70+ year old neighbour, I planted my first ever garden. Tomatoes, Basil, Carrots, Cucumber, Zucchini, Potatoes, Chives. Now I’m looking to carry on my family tradition and cut the blades off of perfectly good hockey sticks to help support the tomato plants.

I’m coaching Ethan’s soccer team. Twelve 4 year olds – 1 field – 1 ball – 45 minutes every Tuesday – what a party.

We, and by ‘we’ I mean Sarah, have some exterior painting to do on the house. Garage door, shutters, railings…you know how it goes.

Sarah and I are throwing a street bbq and inviting our neighbours. It’s the bbq I’m looking forward to most this summer.

Reads

I’ve got three books to finish up this summer Everything Belongs (Richard Rohr); Dominion and Dynasty (Stephen Dempster); The Passion in Art (Richard Harries ) and in the queue sits Slaves, Women, Homosexuals: Exploring the Hermeneutic of Cultural Analysis (William J Webb); A long Obedience in the Same Direction (Eugene Peterson); Contemplative Prayer (Thomas Merton)

Liturgy
I will attempt to write liturgies based on the songs from Thrice’s album, Vehissue. I believe there’s lots of good stuff to be mined there. I for one have already been inspired.

theStory
We’ll be stretching ourselves this summer by asking gifted teachers in our community the opportunity to use their gifts. The series: Reel to Real – Spirituality in Film.

Sarnia Short Film Festival

Nathan, Darryl and I are spear heading the first festival of its kind in Sarnia. Check out the details here.

Miscellaneous
This website allows you to reformat YouTube video…for free. An awesome tool for you powerpoint types.

I will be taking full advantage of the sandy shores of Lake Huron this summer. I’d like to acquire a SeaDoo but it’s just not in the budget for this year, that is unless, you’ve got one sitting around that you’re not using.
