inspired
at the moment i’m feeling inspired. inspired to think, dream, create and to cough some of this on anyone within range.
steve jobs (mr. apple) is one of the greatest innovators and creators of our time. for me, he falls into the “mentor from afar” category [an entire series of posts on this topic coming soon]. so, with credit to www.jordoncooper.com and www.painterskeys.com i’ve put together the following mini homage to the creativity of steve jobs:
“When Apple Computer was creating the Macintosh computer, the Mac developers ran pirate flags over their building and changed the locks keeping all other the other non-Mac people out. Steve Jobs knew how important it was to keep the best employees and their most creative people from being ground down by those who didn’t share their values or vision of what they were trying to do.”
3 jobs quotes:
“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.”
“Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations.”
“I want to put a ding in the universe.”
raise your pirate flags, my friends…

I love to see the continued success of Apple (even though I love Microsoft – in fact, if it wasn’t for Bill, I wouldn’t be getting paid today.)
I think Apple seems like such an amazing company because they struck gold with its IPOD. And thankfully they made it compatible with Windows or it would have been over a LONG time ago. The truth is Apple has been getting killed in the computer world for a long time and although I will admit that they look, feel and have amazing software (so easy to use) they just don’t cut it. There way to expensive and because the company is not willing to merge on compatibility with Windows (with the exception of the IPOD) they just aren’t competing. Why is it that a computer company makes all its profits on MP3 players?
I hate when people compare Apple and Microsoft and say Apple is far superior. Computers weren’t made as toys, there for business and Microsoft is all business. If I want pretty picture editing and Music manipulation, I’ll get an apple. If I want to function in the IT world, ill stick with Bill.
